Who it is for

For people who work with parcels every day and are tired of copying them one by one out of a cadastre viewer.

  • Land surveyors

Check boundaries and the cadastral area before you go out on site, and compare them with your survey.

  • Engineering firms

Map every plot crossed by a road, a power line or a pipeline straight from the list of references.

  • Architects

Pin down the exact plot of a commission, with its official area, before the first sketch.

  • Agronomists

Load every parcel of a farm in one go and overlay them with your crop or soil layers.

  • Valuers

Confirm that the property you are valuing matches the cadastral parcel and its area.

  • Local councils

Put the references of an asset register or a case file on the map without typing them one by one.

  • Consultancies

Build the parcel map for an environmental, energy or land acquisition study in minutes, in any of the 29 countries.

Install it in three steps

Two minutes from opening QGIS to your first parcel.

  1. Install the plugin

In QGIS, open Plugins › Manage and Install Plugins and search for “Parcel GPS”. If it does not show up yet, download the version 0.3.1 zip and install it from the “Install from ZIP” tab.

What it does

Everything you need to go from a list of references to a parcel map without leaving QGIS.

  • By referencePaste the cadastral reference as it is. The country is detected for you, or you pick it.
  • With a click on the mapClick anywhere and get the parcel underneath, in whatever CRS your project uses.
  • In batch from a tablePick a CSV, a spreadsheet or any layer and the field that holds the references. With a progress bar, cancel button and automatic waiting when you hit the per-minute limit.
  • Satellite or OpenStreetMapWhen the project has no basemap, the plugin adds Esri satellite imagery or OpenStreetMap under the parcels and frames the result.
  • Styled, labelled layerTranslucent blue polygons with a strong outline, labelled with the reference and the area in m² or ha.
  • Official Catastro layerFor Spanish results, switch on the INSPIRE WMS of the Spanish Directorate General for Cadastre to see the neighbouring parcels.
  • Save in your formatExport the layer to GeoPackage, GeoJSON, Shapefile or KML with one button.
  • Five languagesThe interface follows your QGIS language: English, Spanish, French, German or Italian.

What it costs

The plugin is free and open source. Lookups use the Parcel GPS API: the Free plan includes 250 requests a month, forever and with no card, and paid plans start at €19 a month.

A lookup by reference usually costs one request and a click on the map costs two. Lookups with no result are not charged. A free key allows up to 10 requests a minute: on large batches the plugin waits and carries on by itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work in QGIS 4?

Yes. It works in QGIS 4 (Qt6) and in QGIS 3 from version 3.22. The screenshot on this page is a real result in QGIS 4.2. It needs no extra Python packages and connects through QGIS, so your proxy settings apply.

Which countries does it cover?

29 European countries: Spain (with the Navarre and Basque Country foral cadastres), Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Nordic and Baltic countries and more. You can search by cadastral reference in 27 of them and by clicking on the map in all 29; Croatia and the United Kingdom (Scotland) work by coordinates only.

Is it free?

The plugin is free and open source (GPL-2.0-or-later). It needs a Parcel GPS API key: the Free plan gives 250 requests a month, with no card and no expiry. If you need more volume, paid plans start at €19 a month.

Where does the data come from?

From the official cadastre of each country: the Spanish Directorate General for Cadastre and the foral treasuries, the DGFiP in France, the Agenzia delle Entrate in Italy, each Land’s ALKIS in Germany, and so on across all 29 countries. Every parcel carries the attribution of its official source in the source field.

What data comes with each parcel?

Each parcel lands as a polygon in the “Parcel GPS” layer (EPSG:4326) with reference, country, area in m², municipality, province, address, latitude, longitude, source and fetch date. Save it as GeoPackage, GeoJSON, Shapefile or KML.

What if it does not show up in the plugin manager?

Download the version 0.3.1 zip from GitHub and, in QGIS, go to Plugins › Manage and Install Plugins › Install from ZIP. It is the same version that is published on the official QGIS plugin repository.
